Penn State University founded as the Farmers High School of Pennsylvania

February, 1855

The Farmers’ High School of Pennsylvania was founded in 1855. In 1862 the school changed its name to the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania, and in 1874 it became the Pennsylvania State College.
